Teaching Philosophy

Informed by the words and works of Paolo Freire, I create educational spaces in which transformation is possible for all participants. Driven by the newest peer-reviewed research into brain development and effective pedagogy, I invite students to engage in a creative partnership of problem-solving together to learn new skills and internalize new information in ways that lead to deep integration of concepts and lived experience.

My studios, classrooms and workshops are alive with the quiet hum of healthy anticipation and eustress, the environment in which both children and adult learners thrive. Multiple pathways are offered in which to gain success and satisfaction before moving on to the next level of growth. All of this provides the deep fun that human beings first experience naturally when their world is new and possible, and constantly supported by loving caretakers. That optimal learning environment can and should be re-created for a lifetime of learning.
